Rod Dreher explains the importance of suffering through persecution for what you believe in, calling most Americans simply "admirers," of liberty, while those who are willing to fight for their beliefs are "disciples" of liberty. He says that those who have been raised in freedom do not have the inoculation against lies, and thus they are more susceptible to propaganda and less committed to an "objective reality."
