Bran Castle (Rom. Castelul Bran, German Törzburg, Hungarian Törcsvár) is a castle in Romania, in the picturesque town of Bran, 30 km from Brasov, on the border of Muntenia and Transylvania.

Count Dracula's Castle is the most famous among the medieval castles built in Transelvania. It is located on the territory of the Carpathian Mountains near the city of Brasov. The Stone Castle was built on the site of an old wooden fortress by the inhabitants of the region many centuries ago, for which they were given eternal freedom from paying tribute to the state. This is the main attraction of the country, which serves as a kind of monument to the famous vampire and the Middle Ages. According to legend, Count Dracula himself once lived in the castle. The story of his life is known to many fans of science fiction.

The castle was built in the 14th century on top of a high cliff. In the 17th century, two watchtowers were built. Today it has 4 levels connected by a stone staircase. The halls and corridors of the castle are a complex mysterious labyrinth. The cruelty and composure of Count Dracula ruined more than one life and there are still rumors that ghosts roam around the castle and strange sounds are heard at night.

The castle changed owners several times. Initially, it served as a lookout point for the military. From there, the surroundings of the city are really clearly visible, because it is located on a rock. According to history, later the queen of Romania and the prince of the Wallachians lived there, then it belonged to local lords. And Vlad Tepes, who had the nickname Dracula, was not the owner of this house, he only occasionally stayed there as a guest when he came to hunt in the forests that surrounded the castle. This cruel nobleman really existed, he really killed, so he was given such a nickname. And even after his death, the frightened people made up stories that the count had signed a contract with a demon for eternal life, but already in the form of a vampire.
