Singer/songwriter and musician R.G.Williamson blends decades of influences into his music that includes everything from the golden oldies and classic rock to alternative, folk, hard rock and even metal stylings. Vocal harmony, melody and the guitar hook are the driving force throughout all of his songs that touch on a range of subjects that include relationships, life challenges, inspiration, fantasy and the supernatural.

Background

Born Richard Gunnard Williamson in 1967 in Gloucester, Massachusetts as a young child he was exposed to a wide variety of music on a daily basis courtesy of both his parents and two older siblings. He learned to play the accordion at the age of eight but it would not be until his seventeenth birthday after receiving his first electric guitar and amp as a gift that he would begin his own journey as a musician. After a brief three months of private lessons he began to self-teach himself the instrument and drew inspiration from guitarists Tony Iommi, Michael Schenker and Brian May to help develop his own style early on.

In the early 90s he began writing and recording instrumental songs on a 4-track recorder. In 1995 he would have his first experience of recording original music in a professional studio as the lead guitarist and co-songwriter of the experimental death metal band “Severed Spine”. In 2002 he released an independent self-produced album with the rock band “Imbalance”, an original live project that he performed with for over a decade on the local club circuit. In 2010 he began recording in his own home studio with poet/songwriter Derek Richards, this would produce two projects “Enslaving Grace” and “Worry the Bones” which in turn released two albums that he co-wrote and performed on, “The Gutter Gospel” and “Thirteen Pregnant Virgins” respectively. In 2014 he would go on to write, record and release his first single “Nothing” and on October 27th, 2021, after three months of writing and recording he released his first full length self-produced album “The Solid State of Life in a Vacuum” in which he performs all instrumentation and vocals.
