Surviving an Edged Weapon Attack for Armed Citizen Defenders

This is 1 minute 50 seconds of my 2 hour block at the Nomad Krav Maga Super Seminar. Even 2 hours is just a brief introduction on the topic. Our full length online course on this topic is 3 hours and 40 minutes of demonstrations alone, and even that is abbreviated.

The purpose of sharing these clips are to give you a handful of principles and concepts that could save your life if you should be faced with the unthinkable.

Abbreviated Statistical Context:
1. 71% of edged weapon attacks are felt before they're seen.
2. The edged weapon and attack is concealed until the last possible moment.
3. The attacker controls the victim and the distance with their lead arm.
4. The victim is stabbed 2 - 4 times before they can respond.
5. The attacker will use repetitive thrusts at a frequency of 1.5 stabs per second.
6. There is a 56% chance of dealing with more than one attacker, so taking the fight to the ground with multiple weapons and multiple attackers on dangerous surfaces leaves a small margin for success.
7. Having the skills to control the stabbing arm and defeat the lead arm and create the space you need to get your gun in the fight is critical.
8. Well placed hits on a determined attacker with an edged weapon is no guarantee to immediately stop the treat.
9. Having the ability to integrate combatives and evasive maneuvers with weapon in hand is critical.
10. It's not uncommon to these types of attacks to take place in confined spaces so evasive maneuvers aren't always an option.
11. If you are with loved ones at the time of the attack or feel the need to defend other innocent bystanders, creating distance isn't always an option. Therefore, having the ability to control the edged weapon and the attacker as you deploy your weapon is key. This is something we didn't have time to demonstrate and drill within this 2 hour block.
