1 Thessalonians 4:16 I want to again here in 15: The coming of the Lord, the coming, remain unto the coming of the Lord. In verse 16: The Lord himself shall descend from heaven and so in verse 17 it says: we shall be caught up together with them: the dead in Christ, and those which are alive and remain changed caught up together so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Verse 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Comfort. It doesn't say scare the "h" out of them; and that's exactly what we usually do when it comes to the matter of talking about death and resurrection. We tell people "Well, you better get saved because you might die tomorrow. And if you're going to die tomorrow you want to get saved today so you can go to heaven tomorrow. No.
The Word is a word of comfort. The bible no place teaches you get saved because you're afraid of death. It teaches that you get saved so that you can have an abundant life while you're living here! Good gravy, when we're dead, we're dead. We need an abundance now right. We need to tap the resources now. We need to walk in this abundant power for abundant living now. And these are words of comfort. Comfort! The greatest hope of the church is the return of Christ and this is comfort! Comfort! It's a tremendous time. These words are to comfort us not scare us, not frighten us, they're to be comfort to us.
Now chapter five he turns around and he says:
[1 Ths 5:1] But of the times and the seasons, brethren [of the times and season just stew and fret about it and dig the Word hard to find out? No. He says none of your lousy business; you have no need], ye have no need that I write unto you.
The times and seasons you have no need, right? That is what it says. And yet that's exactly what so many people are working in the field of prophecy are always looking for: the times and the seasons. And they tell us it's now all set. We're starting to move, you know? Israel's gone back here and they got a nation; and this is happening. The Word says times and seasons are none of your business.
Now either God is a liar or those fellas that are writing that stuff are liars.
One or the other, can't both be right.
