ExecHQ's Mascot Dottie and the "Full" Glass

ExecHQ's mascot Dottie is a four year old female Chihuahua who was rescued from the streets of Yuma, Arizona. Dottie continues to remind me that the drink glass is neither "half full" or "half empty." The glass is always completely full, maybe half liquid and the other half life-enabling oxygen.

We didn't realize when we adopted Dottie six months ago that she, at the time, had a mild case of Valley Fever. After three occurrences of eye swelling, the vet diagnosed the Valley Fever, but by then, the eye needed to be removed.

A few days later, with the eye removed and treatment for Valley Fever underway, Dottie was happier and more energetic than we had ever seen.

Sometimes we focus on our current struggles and obstacles (e.g., the eye removal) and we lose focus on the long-term benefits. If we persevere and have faith in the midst of adversity...and allow ourselves to be recipients of grace, mercy and comfort...then afterwards we are better equipped to give grace, mercy and comfort to others who are going through dark times. Paul communicated this in the first part of his second letter to a group of Christians in the first century a.d.

We pray that you and your families will receive grace, mercy and comfort in the difficult times that you are going through...and hope that you will be better equipped to give grace, mercy and comfort to those individuals around you in the same way.

Let's look at our circumstances, struggles and opportunities as a "full" glass, and use what we receive and learn as an opportunity to encourage and comfort others. Grace and peace!
