"Things are getting worse day by day with all the draconian laws... no one is safe". Kashmir is a 'disputed state' currently under majority rule by the Indian government, and has been suffering from India's violent military occupation and violations of constitutional provisions of Kashmir's autonomy. As one Kashmiri lawyer explains here, occupational forces have the power to arrest, detain, search, rob, torture, rape, murder and destroy the property of people with only suspicion as grounds – including little children and Kashmiri leaders - and India is violating their own free speech article by silencing Kashmiri journalists. The similarities between what is happening to Kashmir and what is happening globally under draconian and tyrannical lockdowns is a warning to the rest of the world of things to come.

As with many people in the neighboring Panjab, a large percentage of Kashmiri people desire the right to self-determination and/or independence from India, especially in non-Hindu/Muslim areas.
