Scout Ranch opens doors to public for a special event!

A peaceful day in the country is being offered to anyone who needs it by the D-Bar-A Scout Ranch (880 E. Sutton Rd.) in neighboring Metamora Township. Camp Director Joe Lewis is inviting folks of all ages to visit the 1,800-acre ranch and enjoy some of its amenities on Monday, Dec. 20th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a free event. "We want to give people an opportunity to get out of the house and get their minds off things for a few hours," he said. "The atmosphere here is tranquil and relaxing. It's a wonderful place to heal, have some fun, reconnect with nature, and reconnect with yourself and others. I know a lot of folks around here are hurting right now. We want to offer a respite for those who need it."

Established in 1950, the D-Bar-A Scout Ranch has 12 miles of breathtaking trails, three spring-fed lakes, and a herd of 24 friendly horses.

"People are welcome to wander and explore the property, go on a hike, and hang out with our horses," Lewis said. "If the weather allows, people are welcome to do some fishing. We have about 200 fishing poles here. We want folks to enjoy themselves and take it easy. That's our top priority."
