Daniel 11:1–12:13 Psalm 138:1–3 Proverbs 29:16 1 John 2:1–29
- Daniel 11 - 1st year of Darius the Mede, prophecy about kingdoms being divided, 36“Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done.
- John MacArthur's note here: 11:2–45 As in 8:3–26, this prophecy sweeps all the way from the history of spiritual conflict in Israel (11:2–35) to the Tribulation (vv. 36–42) when Michael aids in fully delivering Israel (12:1). The detail of this history is so minute and accurate, so confirmed by history, that unbelieving critics have, without evidence, insisted that it was actually written 400 years later than Daniel, after it had happened, which would make the prophet a deceiver. The prophecy actually looks ahead from Daniel to the final Antichrist.
- Daniel 12 - At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; Michael -appears to have a very big role as a warrior, .
- Every one who is found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.
- We can see here the bodily resurrection of believers and unbelievers being explained here, so the Old testament clearly teaches God's judgment,
- The Daniel sees the man on riverbank, many shall be purified made in white, none of the wicked shall under, but the wise shall understand,
- then Daniel mentions the period of time for the Tribulation - 1,290 days,
- Psalm 138:1-3 I will praise you with my whole heart, I will sing praises to you, Christians praise God, David was made bold and had strength in his Soul.
- Proverbs 29:16 - A great reminder for us, when the wicked are multiplied, transgression are multiplied, But the righteous will see their fall,
- 1 John 2:1-29 - write these things that you may not sin, - we have an Advocate Jesus Christ the righteous, Propitiation for our sin - Blood sacrifice that turns away wrath (God's wrath) in the Old testament the Ark/Tavar was sealed with tar or pitch, Moses basket was sealed with Pitch, and Jesus is the ultimate anti-type/fulfillment,
- Verse about hating your brother is blinding
- Do not love the world or the things in the world - (The term world does not mean all people) it
- 16For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
- Warning against antiChrist, many antiChrist - instead ofs,
- They went out from us because they were not of us, true believers persevere.
- 20But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
- Believers will walk in truth as a pattern, the Holy Spirit leads us in truth, no lie (lies are a contradiction of God's Character)
- The liar is the one that denies Jesus is Messiah, and other things as well, (To have the Father you must have the Son) God is a Trinity and this is essential.
- Christ is righteous and believers practice righteousness, as a reminder the Holy Spirit is called the Holy Spirit because he makes us Holy (the imputed righteousness of Christ) but also in a real way in the life of the believer,
- Notes from Macarthur - in the 1st century, Christianity was attacked by gnostics with "secret knowledge and denying the humanity of Christ" eventually led to this idea that matter was bad etc, and in today's woke culture I would and have said for some time that this is really a derivative of the gnostic ideology,
