This is Lesson-29 in the series “Come Lord Jesus!” from the book of Revelation.

The title for this lesson is: An Unholy Trinity - Part II.

Our focus passage is Revelation 13:11-18.

In our previous episode, we began our study of Revelation 13, and we covered the first division: The Beast from the Sea (v1-10).
 
* We discussed the fact that: Satan is a liar and the father of lies (cf. John 8:44). He is the great deceiver of the whole world (cf. 2 Cor. 11:14-15; Rev. 12:9).
* Not only that, since the beginning, Satan has been opposed to God and His purposes and plans.
* His great desire has always been to replace the Most High God (cf. Isa. 14:13-14).
* Given that he is a liar and a deceiver, Satan also excels in providing counterfeit options to what God offers.
 
And in this chapter of Revelation, we see Satan’s ultimate counterfeit: an unholy trinity.
 
Almighty God exists as one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That’s what theologians call the Holy Trinity.
 
Satan of course cannot replicate that because he is a created being and not the ultimate Creator of heaven and earth.

But that won’t stop him from trying to establish this unholy trinity. We met the second member of the counterfeit trinity last time: the beast from the sea (the Antichrist).

In today’s lesson we will conclude our study of Rev. 13. We will turn our attention to the third member of the unholy trinity: the beast from the earth, the False Prophet.
 
* The role of this character is to lead the people astray in following after the Antichrist.
* He will establish a religious system that will worship Antichrist as a god which basically means, people will end up worshiping Satan.
* Because remember, it is the Devil who gives Antichrist his power and authority.
* Not only that, but the False Prophet will establish a system of forced compliance with the worship of the beast from the sea.
* Those who refuse to go along, the true believers in Christ, will pay a great price.
