Jesus' disciples were known to argue over who would be the greatest among them. Where was their spiritual maturity? How could they have made such a foolish mistake? They could sin in this manner because spiritual maturity is not a gift. Christians become mature over time. It takes experience, or learning from experience, to truly become mature.
