HOW MANY SEATS DO REPUBLICANS NEED TO WIN THE HOUSE? | UNEED2CTHIS (UN2CT) POLITICAL SCIENCE

¹Per The Hill, "Republicans only need to flip five seats to win the House majority in the 2022 midterms."

² Political forecasters say the House will "lose control of the chamber in the 2022 midterms"².

²But, this has been the historical trend -- the party in power loses seats in the midterms.

¹As of December 20, 2021, 25 House Democrats aren't running for reelection, as well as, 13 House Republicans.
Some of those leaving the House are, instead, running candidates for Senators or Governors.¹
²Redistricting in the fall of congressional maps is another matter.
Some ¹"lawmakers cited decennial redistricting and the increasingly toxic environment in Congress" as reasons for leaving in 2022.¹

SENATORS LEAVING
¹SIX senators stated they will not be running for reelection in 2022.
• Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.),
• Pat Toomey (R-Pa.),
• Rob Portman (R-Ohio),
• Richard Shelby (R-Ala.),
• Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), &
• Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).
