Russia sees little optimism in US response on Ukraine crisis | ITV News

It is only on the ground that the true picture of what a Russian invasion of Ukraine would look like becomes clear.

Dan Rivers reports from inside Ukraine's icy northern border, on the country's defences against any possible Russian ground attack. Russia has been blowing hot and cold all day about whether that is any more likely.

President Putin himself has yet to respond to America, and indeed NATO's, rejection of Russia's plan to solve the crisis. His veteran Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said they were still deadlocked on the main issue - Russia's demand that Ukraine never joins NATO.

But, on other issues, the talking will continue. On the border, so does the waiting.
