Texas evening news anchor: I was fired for not getting vaccine despite allergy, medical advice

Millions of people have received the news that their workplace is mandating the COVID-19 vaccine, usually worded in the name of "safety" and "CDC guidelines." But what if it was anything but safe for you to take the COVID-19 vaccine?

Enter Dan Thomas. He was a news anchor for the Gray Television affiliate in Sherman, Texas for years. Dan said he found out the hard way that he's allergic to polysorbate and PEG, which the CDC says are in all three of the COVID-19 vaccines on the market in the United States. Despite both the CDC and Dan's doctor saying he shouldn't get the shots, Dan said he received a generic email saying he's out of a job.

"Gray Television has set the bar again with new policies for our employees that are meant to provide the safest possible workplace," said the company, which owns KXII. "Effective September 1, 2021, all new full-time and part-time hires must be "fully vaccinated" against the coronavirus (as defined by the CDC). This full vaccination policy will extend to all of our managers effective September 15, 2021, and to all other employees, as well as all outside contractors, tenants, and guests who enter our workspaces, on October 1, 2021. We will make accommodations for employees with medical or religious needs."

Now, Dan's making a surprise career change that he never expected.
