Achala, "the Immovable One", is a wrathful enlightened being (Buddha), or a Dharma protector, depending on the source. Achala is found in Vajrayana Buddhism and has Sutras and Tantras dedicated to his practice and veneration. Achala is one of the "Four Divinities of the Kadampas". Achala found in Zen, Shugendo, Nichiren, Shingon, and Tendai Buddhist sects of Japan. Achala goes by many other names. In Tibet, he is Miyowa. In Japan he is Fudo Myoo. In China he is Budong Mingwang.

Om Chanda Maha Roshana Hum Phat is the mantra of Achala.

The mantra evokes the living presence of Achala, as well as his fierce protection. In Tibetan Buddhism, there is no difference between the mantra and the deity itself.

The mantra is repeated here 111 times, or one mala.

May this mantra aid in the protection of beings.
