ACCURATE Subtitles
In the 32nd verse of this same chapter. You want to read the story there in the 17th chapter (and the whole Word). And real interesting ,but down in the 32nd verse of this same chapter:

Acts 17:32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead here… Paul is at the Areopagus in uh Greece, Athens, Mars Hill, where they had all these Gods, you know, from all the nations. And then, they had one special one there. It was marked “To the Unknown God” in case they missed any.

And while he was teaching there, imagine taking the Gospel into that place of unbelief. That's where the Gospel is good. The Gospel is made for unbelievers, to get them to believe if they want.

When they heard of the resurrection of the dead some who heard did what? [mocked] Others said we will hear thee again. That’s wonderful. Some said we'll listen to this thing again, but someplace in here it says “and some believed.” I can't lay my… Oh the 34th? . Oh yes. Thank you.

Acts 17:34 Albeit certain men clave unto him and what? [believed]

Amen. That’s wonderful.

You see, you always have three reactions to the Word of God, Three reactions. Tonight, people listening to this broadcast are going to have three reactions to this teaching, if they haven't turned us off by now. And you know one of them will be they'll mock it. They'll mock it. They've always mocked the way to God, some of them, but that does not invalidate the Word of God. It only makes it of non-effect to them. Right.

A second group says, well we want to think about it a while, We will hear the again of this matter, and then the third group is composed of those who do one thing what? Believe.

And those who believe receive, for all believing equals receiving, and nobody ever receives anything from God without believing. You see how important the resurrection was in the early church? I’m sure you do.

Romans. One more verse along this line. Romans Chapter One, verse 4. Who has it please? All right, Mr. Davidson back there. Excuse me. Start reading with the third verse, and then we'll get the impact to the fourth, everybody. All right read it please.

Romans 1:3,4 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

How was he declared to be the son of God? That's right, by the resurrection from the dead. It was the resurrection that declared that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and without that resurrection there would have been no declaration that he was the son of God.

He would not necessarily, sense knowledge wise, not have been any better than David, or Moses, or one of the prophets perhaps. But the thing the scripture says that declared him to be the Son of God was that he was what? Resurrected from the dead.

You see why the resurrection is the greatness of it? It is not in the crucifixion on the cross, and yet the major symbols we have today indicate that which basically has nothing to do with the greatness of what we have in Christ.

This cross. This cross is not indicative of the greatness of the Gospel that is addressed to us, the church, today. The cross is indicative of his death, but the greatness is not in his death but in his what? It his resurrection, that's it. In his resurrection.

Look at Colossians. … Acts, Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians. Colossians Chapter Two. Chapter Two of Colossians, verse 15, of this chapter. Who has it, please. All right back there.

Col, 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

In his resurrected body, Jesus Christ appeared to the spirits in prison, Peter says. Remember? We're not going to look this up tonight, but there are some of you in here who certainly remember.

He appeared in his resurrected body to the imprisoned spirits, who had just been disobedient in the days of Noah. Remember? And it caused the whole world to go kaplooey.

His resurrected body, he appeared to them and he witnessed to them. It says he witnessed to them. Well what did he witness to them about it . . .
