Loy Krathong Festival (ลอยกระทง), known as Thailand’s Festival of Lights, is an annual traditional Siamese festival celebrated by Thais to pay respect to the Goddess of Water and the Buddha. It is not a public holiday but is celebrated nationwide when people gather around lakes, rivers, and canals to release krathongs (lotus-shaped rafts decorated with banana leaves, flowers, and candles). I show you the festival from Wat Phra Si Mahathat (more of a traditional way to celebrate in front of the temple) and from Kasert Univeristy where it’s more of a modern way with loads of street food and a massive crowd. Enjoy the video!
