Exodus 18 - Sermon with Mike Kestler

This chapter begins with a visit from Moses’ father-in-law and he praises the God of Israel for what He did for Israel in Egypt.

Jethro, Moses' father-in-law saw how the children of Israel operated and told Moses that he should set up a chain of command or authority. The father-in-law told the prophet of the Lord to only judge the high and difficult matters while his junior officers could handle lower matters.

Moses had to select worthy men, and teach them the law, as well as allow them to rule over 50 people. This way Moses himself did not have to judge every matter, so he received the counsel and implemented it.
