I have a Mercury 9.9hp mid-90's outboard. It came to me from a friend that asked me to service it and sell it for him. It came off a run-about as a kicker motor for the boat. He took the motor, controls and wiring harness off the boat and brought to me. I run through it an discovered the shift is not working and seems to be bound up in the motor. The lower unit was fine but, where it was bound up was in the shifting mechanism on the motor.
