Gavin Newsom turned San Francisco into a 'first world slum'

Gavin Newsom turned San Francisco into a "first world slum" when he was Mayor, says author Douglas Murray.

It comes as the now Californian Democratic Governor said his state looked like a "third world country" as he looked at debris left by looters on railway tracks in Los Angeles.

Mr Murray remarked at how San Francisco was already a slummy city but Mr Newsom had made it "even slummier" when he was Mayor.

"As it so often happens with politicians who've failed, he moved up and he tried to do what he'd done in San Francisco on a state-wide level," he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

"There are even people saying maybe at some point Gavin Newsom can run for the presidency then he can turn the whole of America into the kind of slum that he's managed to do so well at excelling at in his career to date."
