Keepsake Christmas Ornament | Mini Shadowbox for the Memories | 2021/43

I recently created a Christmas Ornament for a Maker's Challenge, one of the themes of the challenge that started to emerge, was that makers were making ornaments on the products they were known for. I specialize in military shadow boxes, so I figured I would take a shot at it.

A Home Depot paint stirrer, some CA glue from Starbond, a piece of 1/8” acrylic and a dip in a can of dark walnut stain from Varathane was all that was needed for this ornament. I laid out a picture of what I would want the shadow box to look like. The layout included a service photo, my awards, rank insignia, and logos from the commands I had served in. I reduced the picture down to 3” x 2” and printed it on photo paper. The items were prepped, sanded, stained, and assembled. The finishing touch was a small brass eye hook for hanging on the tree!

I do not have a full-sized shadow box representing my military career, so this was a nice start to what I hope will become a bigger project in the future. this ornament will hang on our tree for years to come!
