A Very Affordable Airplane: Chotia Woodhopper

The Woodhopper was designed to be easy to build and easy to fly and very affordable. Unfortunately, there's not many flying examples of this vintage ultralight today.

The woodhopper. What a crazy airplane. Construction of this little flying machine is stupid simple. Douglas fir provides the main boom and kingpost, while styrofoam is used for the wingribs, all three components are strengthened by fiberglass. The whole thing is wire-braced, like, a lot of wire. This gives the Woodhopper a very light empty weight, 145lbs to be exact.
