“Jonah, Jesus and the Great Revival of Ninevah”

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BIBLICAL FAST HAS BEEN DECLARED?

Rather than rely on my experiences, or the experiences of your Pastor, or on what you might imagine happens when a Biblical fast has been declared, let’s take a look at some of the recorded historical examples of the Bible to answer the question!

The Revival that came as a result of one man’s obedience had stopped the judgment of God and saved the lives of thousands of people!

“So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.”

The people of Nineveh believed God … these were wicked people that had no desire to serve the Lord. They had no interest in spiritual things. But, somehow, God’s message of love and repentance broke through … in spite of the harsh word of Jonah.

The word of God, delivered through the actions of a repentant Jonah, had reached even to the King of Nineveh.

Even our political leaders, of whom it could be said are “persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand” … if they hear the word of God and repent … God’s mercy will triumph over His judgment and they will be saved, if they repent.
