Arcane: Episode 1 Design to Pull Normies In

Arcane is a wonderfully well-written series. Most people notice that around Episode 3. But when you think about what Episode 1 has to do, you might see that Episode 1 does more than just setting up things. Episode 1 needs to appeal to the existing fan base, excite people who are interested in good sci-fi/fantasy and pull in as many non-nerds (aka normies) as possible. It does that by good characterization, visual storytelling, and what seems to be initially a very clear and black & white conflict.
