Going off of the sermon I did the other day about the difference between the Spirit of God and the Holy Spirit, you might ask the question; just what function does the Holy Spirit play when it lives inside of me? If it is not its own personal, individual being but just the essence of God's own inner spirit living in me - what purpose does it serve? This is your answer.
