Diesel Generator Cold Sub-Zero Startup

I typically run the generator once a week during the winter to keep everything working. Usually for a half hour to get it up to normal operating temps. Had problems with the original glow plugs. Pulled them out and tested them. They barely glowed red hot. I switched over to NGK glow plugs and they turn white hot after just 20 seconds. I also installed thicker (2 gauge) battery cables to make the engine crank faster. This is important for a diesel engine as it requires hot compression to ignite the fuel. It is colored red because it is off road diesel. So far this winter I've had to run it for 18 hours due to CMP power outages. With the remote start, I can get it running from inside the house in the middle of a blizzard while I stay nice and warm. Please leave a comment or questions.
