Retiring in 2014 from the U.S. Army, Brigadier General Doug Satterfield originally entered the United States Army on active duty as a Private in 1974. Seven years later, he completed his enlisted service as a U.S. Infantry Staff Sergeant. His final duty position in the U.S. Corps of Engineers was Deputy Commander, 412th Theater Engineer Command where he was responsible for 3 brigades composed of over 12,000 Soldiers. In addition, he had dual-responsibility as the Wartime Engineer for the 8th U.S. Field Army in the Republic of Korea.
Brigadier General Satterfield holds a Bachelors Degree, two Master’s Degrees, and is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, the Joint Forces Staff College, and the Capstone Flag Officer’s course. During 40 years of service, he commanded units at every echelon from Platoon to Brigade level, with duty in 22 foreign nations.
His awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, and two Bronze Star medals. Upon retirement he was awarded the Silver de Fleury Medal from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for his years of exemplary service to the nation.
