Literature Review: Membrane Androgen Receptors

Androgens act on cells via multiple pathways, both known and still undescribed. Androgen receptor insensitivity syndrome affects the nuclear androgen receptor, but this does not automatically extend to other unrelated androgen receptor types. This article touches on one study that among other things, used a drug to both block and separately destroy the androgen receptors on a tissue that is already considered to be androgen insensitive, to see whether androgens could still be used by the non-AR receptors on the genes, and appears to conclude that alternative receptor types could still bind with the testosterone.

In simple terms, what this means is that the testosterone can still go to Arby's even though Wendy's is closed. It won't be the same, but it will be something.
