Rise then shine

It’s a mess inside
I can’t see the sunrise
Because I’m too busy looking into your eyes
I can’t tell now
If they’re filled will compassion or despise

Sometimes I wish I had died
But I guess God had other plans
I know the world is in his hands
So what tomorrow brings
No one knows
But I can guess
And say it’ll be no better than the rest
I’m just a mere pest
Of course I could never be the best

I have to stop overthinking
I can see why people take to drinking
It’s a sweet voice to calm the storm
But the thoughts only deform
Till the poison wears off
Then they’re left standing alone
With no one to hold.
