The 1960s brought America a sense of counterculture- the hippies, the anti-Vietnam movement, bell bottoms, Hendrix, and Joplin. They challenged institutions and values but also had a dystopian consequence to their utopian mission. But today’s counterculture looks different. It looks more like the rebels of 1776, who wanted basic American freedom- something that has been replaced by current mainstream culture.
