Recently, another earthquake struck near the Canary Islands. It was not powerful, but tremors influenced the eruption of the volcano. The eruption became even more powerful, and the rivers of lava, which received a new portion of hot magma, acquired extraordinary speed.
Due to the intensification of the eruption, the local authorities were forced to evacuate about 500 more people. In the last week alone, from 11 to 18 October, 1,500 residents of the island were evacuated. In total, the number of people displaced from their homes was over 7,000.
