This is the dramatic moment a group of hero NYPD officers rescued a woman trapped after a gas explosion.

More than 200 emergency service workers raced to the scene in the Bronx at around 11am yesterday (18/1).

An explosion had caused a building to catch alight, leaving one woman dead and eight others - including five police officers - injured.

The incident also put people in neighbouring property in the New York City borough in grave danger.

The NYPD released bodycam footage in the aftermath of the incident, showing the bravery of its cops.

Video shows an officer's point of view as they run down the road and into a severely damaged house.

They can then be seen scanning around as other officers try to lift a sofa - which is on top of a woman.

She can be heard crying for help, before she is freed.

A woman, 77, died in the explosion.
