Predictions of mRNA in 1989 Star Trek Show?

I was always impressed by the "tablets" used in Star Trek to read docs and I thought they seemed futuristic. Seems like this episode almost predicted the mRNA type of approach to fighting viruses. 1989 Star Trek, TNG, Season 2 Episode 7, "Unnatural Selection".
