This morning the song just hit me. I'm looking forward to the studio version. Thanks for listening!

The Ballad of Ray Epps

Ray Epps was a citizen of the USA,
And he only had one single dream,
And he dreamt it every day.
Oh! He wanted to be a G-man in a confidential way,
And run a false-flag operation on some fateful day,

But Ray Epps did not work for them,
no, not in any way,
He acted completely on his own,
in each and every way,
So, in the words of The Committee, Kinzinger!
Let's say, "Thank you, Ray."
But why the hell aren't you in jail?
The F.B.I. won't say.

They spotted Ray Epps as he greeted the crowd,
'a leadin' them on their way,
Directing them to the Capital Building,
To go inside and play,
At the head of the barricade, at his word,
Insurrection was going down,
Into the Capital! Into the Capital!
Epps was heard to shout.

But Ray Epps did not work for them,
no, not in any way,
He acted completely on his own,
in each and every way,
So, in the words of The Committee, Kinzinger!
Let's say, "Thank you, Ray."
But why the hell aren't you in jail?
The F.B.I. won't say.

So now Ray sits at home and he watches
his own face on TV,
While the dupes that followed his instruction
rot down in solitary.
He chuckles to himself with a smirk
at the images that he sees.
He lived out his fantasies and served his country simultaneously.

But Ray Epps did not work for them,
no, not in any way,
He acted completely on his own,
in each and every way,
So, in the words of The Committee, Kinzinger!
Let's say, "Thank you, Ray."
But why the hell aren't you in jail?
The F.B.I. won't say.
