Mystic, CT Dance Party!
Featuring Sugar Band

Mystic Seaport Museum
June 5, 2021

I was able to fly all the way across an enormous field using my handheld gimbal video camera. I walked at least a couple hundred feet; it's a great flyover! And the crowd was friendly and fun; everybody's dancing and picnicking and having a great time!

Featuring six songs - 21 minutes of danceable fun! It includes some naturally-occurring video aberrations, too! For the tech nerd in you, check out how the lighting changes when I get up close, and the sound changes, too. I think the right polarizing filter on the camera will help a lot, and a second camera doing A-roll somewhere in the middle of the field would be optimal, with my "good" mic on it! The kit I brought I could literally carry in my pocket! It's a lightweight recorder that delivers tons of good footage!

When Whitney Houston died (2012), she left a challenging legacy, and today we're reminded of the task set before only those singers who dare face it. Rickie Louise Miller rises to the occasion and aces the ultimate modern-day singer test; performing "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" (1987), a Houston classic filled with razor-sharp hooks and soaring highs only the brightest stars can touch. But we have a spoiler in the wings, as Rickie's contemporary, the uber-talented Talia Rosso, who also sings for Sugar, already left a permanent impression in our musical heads with her slaughtering of the entire curriculum in North Stonington in 2019, including the hit in question. Choose for yourselves, my friends. I like the way the spices are blending with this band, no matter what!

Personally, I have a new fondness for maritime museums! This one rocks! :)
