Thanksgiving Day Desserts | How to Make an EASY CrockPot Dump Cake

From fresh/frozen to canned & home-canned fruit (apples with no-skin), this recipe is sure to take care of the sweet tooth (some of it is sugar-substituted) with a reduction in calories too. It's not keto or necessarily low carb, but the fiber in the fruit is a good balancer if you are watching how much sugar you take in - as well as watching how much sugar-substitute. Why is this important? Because as an ileostomate, it's much easier to dehydrate when consuming larger amounts of Splenda (for example), than table sugars. Too much can cause diarrhea (in anyone) and we ileostomates don't have the luxury of the colon making up that lost water. Something to be mindful of so I try to balance my desserts out by having some sugar, some fiber (fruit - not dried) and some sugar-free. This recipe yields several days of desserts (or even breakfast food) and because the fruit is super soft, it’s been very easy for me to digest (see blueberries next paragraph). It works for me and it might for you too - in moderation is the key =)

A note on blueberries; they come out the same way they go in for me. If I don't pulverize them at the first step (mouth/teeth) then they will come out in my pouch same way swallowed. So, I limit how much I eat. There's some in this recipe, because my husband loves them - and they are healthy - especially for a diabetic (as he is) so I included them, but not many.

As always with an ostomy, when trying something new, go small & slow. When it’s food, chew chew and chew some more. Digestion begins in the mouth!
