From the vocalist Adrian Stinger:
"This song came about after losing my father and then shortly after losing a relative on my wife's side of the family. How do you cope with knowing you are going to die? How can you reassure your kids that life goes on after you are gone or what if you are unable to talk to them, in a coma or something? I was just kind of thinking about all of these things and maybe trying to comfort myself in some ways, like this maybe what my father was trying to tell me. It has some heavy under-tones, but it is supposed to be hopeful or healing in some way I feel.
