Tim Langan - Beyond These Cathedrals

4

This little number was composed in 2004 on my Korg 01Wfd synthesizer, with it’s built in 16 track sequencer. I based the concept of the song on religion and the numerous places of worship that are found across the planet, which are really just unnecessary locations, trying to guide us to our spiritually enlightened destination. Just a thought for you to ponder, that I’d like to put out there - If the religions of the world one day decided to liquidate all of their real estate assets and give the money to the poor, I dare say that poverty would be a thing of the past. As you watch this slideshow, think about the market value of each of these structures and how much good would come from the sale of each of these places of prayer. Needless suffering would end. But then again, why would WE, as members of such places as churches, want to do a crazy thing like end poverty and human suffering ?
I only mention churches because of my upbringing. Please feel free to substitute your own upbringing and religious institution here. As a result of said upbringing, I chose to use the organ as one of the main instruments and have orchestrated as I saw fit. This piece has both its dark, slower sections and its sweeter, quicker sections and I hope you are not in a hurry, as this one will take almost 10 minutes of your time. There are a lot of images to take in during that time, each of them its own footprint on architecture and generally occupying vast acreage of prime real estate. I hope you get as much out of this one, as I put in.
This song was the opening track on my eighth Keyboard Composition CD, "Present"
