Thana Fresh Market, Nakhon Pathom Province, is the old fresh market of the residents
along the Nakhon Chaisri River for more than 140 years. The market wants to maintain the original way of trading by maintaining the 90-year old wooden commercial buildings. They wish to maintain the traditions, architecture and beauty of the area for generations to come. They also want to promote the traditional way of trading long established in this area.

This market was developed early in the Rattanakosin era (King Rama I) when
people first immigrated to this area. Later on in the era of King Rama V, it became an important community trading center. The rows of 2-storey wooden commercial buildings were
built around the market to also serve as "Opium Dens" and Rammek Bridge across Nakorn
Chaisri River was also built to connect between Talad Thana and "Ngew Ra'" area.

The name of "Thalad Thana" has been derived from the nature of the area which
was surrounded by rice field as well as the port adjacent to Nakorn Chaisri River which has
been convenient for transportation and trading of goods and rice along this river.

The market is famous for many different food items to include sweets, vegetables and fruits such as pomelo and coconut as well as
antiques to serve all visiting tourists.

I show you around this market and really enjoyed the buildings and the area. Enjoy the video!
