Sansevieria or mother-in-law's tongue is a genus of ornamental plants that is quite popular as an interior decoration because this plant can grow in conditions of little water and sunlight. Sansevieria has hard, succulent, erect leaves, with tapered ends.

Sanseviera is known as the mother-in-law's tongue plant because of its sharp shape. Sanseviera is not only an ornamental plant, but also has benefits for fertilizing hair, treating diabetes, hemorrhoids, and malignant cancer. While the fiber is used as a clothing material. In Japan, Sanseviera is used to deodorize furniture in a room.
Sansevieria leaf color varies, ranging from dark green, light green, gray green, silver, and color combinations of white yellow or yellow green. The motifs of the grooves or lines found on the leaf blades also vary, some follow the direction of the leaf fiber, irregular, and some are zigzagged.

The specialty of mother-in-law's tongue is that it has a high adaptability to the environment. NASA research in collaboration with ALCA has found evidence that this plant is naturally able to reduce the pollution.

Based on the type, there are two types of sansevieria, namely the first, namely the original Sansevieria/species, while the second is the type of cross/hybridization which can be called the hybrid type of Sansevieria.
