The Holy Spirit and Four Living Creatures Part 3 - Ezekiel Study
A preacher is one who studies the word and then preaches or teaches the word as he understands it. In other words, a preacher is on his own when it comes to understanding the word as the spirit guides him, and as his education and as his study leads him to understand things. So with a preacher, you should expect growth and change and a certain amount of maturity in his spiritual understanding as time passes.
With a prophet it's very different. When God chooses a prophet, God gives that prophet words to speak, and when that prophet speaks those words we can take that as being the word of God. Now, the important thing to remember is, Ezekiel was given a scroll with words to speak.
This doesn't make everything that Ezekiel would say in his day inspired. Only what was on the scroll. Only those things that are the Word of God are the Words of God! Ezekiel said things that, I'm sure, in conversation with his friends or family or even trying to explain what he had seen, were his own words. Let’s be clear on that point!
I'm trying to differentiate between the words of God and the words of Ezekiel. There's a difference: it's only the words of God that are inspired. Ezekiel is called to be the vehicle – the arms and legs, if you will – of the words of God. God has something he wants to say to his people and he chooses Ezekiel to speak those words.
