Ezekiel 36-38 Part 2 - Ezekiel Study
Many people get confused when they read the Old Testament because one, they keep trying to put events that were going to take place under Plan A in the context of the end of the world, which is Plan B, and the two plans do not mix at all.
Second, Plan B is very much like Plan A, if you understand them both. In fact, Plan B is best understood after one understands Plan A. I know it sounds like I'm talking in circles, but I'm trying to help you understand: everything God was going to do with the establishment of his kingdom on earth at the end of the 70 weeks, is very similar to what was going to happen under Plan A, will happen under Plan B – it's understanding the differences, as well as the similarities, that makes this so interesting.
Most people have trouble even understanding Plan B much less Plan A. But a lot of people want to read and understand the Book of Ezekiel and Isaiah and Jeremiah and Obadiah and other Old Testament prophecies, and they keep saying, where does this belong, where does this happen? The fact is, Plan A was abandoned...it won't happen.
Much of what is written in the Old Testament has been abandoned by God because he could not establish the kingdom at the time Christ came to earth. The Old Testament does not predict, does not offer, a second coming! There was only going to be one coming under Plan A. But, when Israel refused to accept Jesus as Messiah, Plan B was put into effect. And Plan B is significantly different than Plan A, but there are many parallels.
For example, I read the last part of Ezekiel chapter 20 in our previous segment, and how God was going to pass judgment upon everyone in Israel: He’s going to go through and judge and decide who will be kept and who will be purged – The separation of the sheep and the goats – from Israel.
Now we find the same parallel with the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11 where the judgment begins at the house of God, and God separates among the Christians: the believers from the pseudo believers. So, the parallels are identical, but the timing is a couple thousand years apart.
You have to understand Plan A and Plan B and their differences, yet there similarities. The Old Testament is all about Plan A, with the exception of the Book of Daniel, which was sealed up until the end of time. Plan B is all about God’s permissive will taking place in the New Testament.
