MEDIUM LENGTH ART VIDEO | "Painting Strokes of Willow" | Oil Stick Art | Carol Zirkle Montana Artist

This is an older video, but thought you might find interest in it. This medium length art video shows how to use oil painting sticks and how to paint a dog portrait. It is a step by step video of the process used in the commissioned painting of the beautiful Australian Shepherd named Willow. The overall painting process is to paint an initial color layer, then add subsequent glazed layers as needed. In each layer, I apply the paint, then move the paint, and in the glazed layers remove some of the paint so that previous layers will show through. I hope you like this painting.

I am a Montana artist residing in the beautiful high plains desert in southwestern Montana, also called the Big Sky Country! My paintings are heavily inspired by the colorful skies and it's effect on the colors of the land. I work primarily in oil sticks, and sometimes tubed oils using the CYMK palette. In 2000, I left a corporate job of 19 years, sold my house the next day and drove 1000 miles from Minneapolis to Montana the next day. I didn't know anyone here at the time, but have found a love filled life and am so glad I followed my passion, and hope you do too! PASSION ON!!
