January 6 Capitol riot committee issues fresh subpoenas

A US House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol has issued fresh subpoenas to three individuals. They include two former advisers to Donald Trump Jr. — Andrew Surabian and Arthur Schwartz — and an adviser to former president Donald Trump, Ross Worthington, who assisted in drafting Trump’s January 6, 2021, rally speech, AP reports. “We have reason to believe the individuals we’ve subpoenaed today have relevant information,” the committee stated, adding, “we expect them to join the more than 340 individuals who have spoken with the Select Committee.” In a speech on Tuesday, President Joe Biden called the attack an attempted “coup” for the first time, according to The Hill.
