A jury found Leonel Hernandez guilty of murder in the 2016 slaying of former El Paso DJ Richard Madrigal.

Madrigal, under the name Rick "Mardi Gras," had been an on-air personality for El Paso rock radio station 95.5 FM-KLAQ.

Hernandez stood with his lawyers at his side as the guilty verdict was read, showing no emotion in the packed courtroom Wednesday morning.

The jury of seven men and five women had been sequestered Tuesday evening after being unable to reach a verdict in the case. They returned the guilty verdict after short deliberations Wednesday morning.
