Don't Look Up Reminded Me Of Starship Troopers - Movie Review

I wasn't expecting the last good movie of the year to come from Netflix, of all studios but here we are with Don't Look Up. A satirical, dark-comedy that doesn't pull its punches. The films mocks Trumpists, social media, political pundits, journalists, corporations and even scientists. A lot of the commentary isn't anything provocative of new but the the fact that movie revolves around a world-ending event and feels plausible, is depressing stuff. The film smartly juggles the tone and plot along with offering up a fantastic lineup of actors. Much like Adam McKay's last film Vice, the editing can sometimes get in the way of the scenes playing out but it is not aggressive by any means. If you are sick of the politics, stick to Sing 2 but I for one found this quite enjoyable and a tad scary at times.
