Why did they fast in the Bible?
Why don't we fast like Christians used to?

We fast to grow spiritually in the Lord
Fasting - abstaining from food

Luke 4:2
Jesus fasted for 40 days

Fasting is an assumption of something we would be doing in the Bible

Jesus said "when you fast"

The disciples would fast once Jesus was gone

Purposes of Fasting
The center should be the Lord - Zechariah 4
Feed the spirit and starve the carnal nature
Which will win? The one you are feeding.
Take away the food from the flesh

Colossians 1:17

Use the time you would have eaten to pray and read the word

Discipline your body
