Lord of the ring filming location

Closeburn, Glenorchy. This scenic area was used as the site of Amon Hen, where the Fellowship were split up during the final battle of The Fellowship of the Ring. It's also the site where Merry and Pippin were captured by the Orcs. The scenes were filmed in a Pine forest near the shores of Lake Wakatipu.
