He said, “The public does not realize that we already have had a revolution in Canadian society. The adoption of a charter was a revolution. It has changed the whole power structure of Canadian society.”

Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau did not like Canada the way it was, and he set out to make it into a different kind of country. In short, the Charter of Rights was intended to fundamentally change Canada, and it has done that.

The book Leaving God Behind: The Charter of Rights and Canada’s Official Rejection of Christianity explains that Canada was originally based on a generally Christian foundation, but that was drastically changed with the adoption of the Charter of Rights.
