Junk

I’ve got a lot of junk
I bet you do too
But what is junk?
What’s it all about?

Is it just old stuff
you’re supposed to throw out?
Like the pair of old socks
With holes in the toes
That’s been in the back
of your dresser drawer
for how long? Who knows?

But just because they’re old
Don’t mean they’re no good
They still could be used
Maybe to polish your shoes

They say that one
man’s junk is
another man’s treasure
But when do you know?
How do you measure?

By using your mind
And imagination too
And instead of paying
someone to haul it
I bet you could think of
great things to do
with that rotted out
rusty old
whatchamacallit!

Build a house
Maybe a car
How about a rocket
that’ll fly to the stars?

The sky is the limit
what you can do if you try
So remember before you
kiss it goodbye
And lock it away
in that dirty old trunk

Perhaps it can be
made into more
And could be more
Much more
than just old junk.
